What are the Responsibilities of a Medical Sales Representative?

Working in sales is easy!

There is a large IDN in South Texas that wouldn’t budge.

One of the largest hospital systems in the region. This account was the difference between 𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐲 𝐧𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐭.

But they weren’t interested. Calls went unanswered. Meetings were canceled. I kept running into roadblocks.

But the account was a 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐭-𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞.

The process wasn’t quick. It took 10 months of effort. Meetings that led nowhere. Conversations that felt like dead ends. But persistence never goes unnoticed.

It took 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

↳ finding internal champions who saw the value.

It took 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

↳ helping them understand why a change was worth the effort.

It took 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞

↳ because big deals don’t happen overnight.

Eventually, the door cracked opened.

Trust was built. And the account placed an order.

𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬. No one pays for effort. No one cuts a check for “almost” getting the deal. You get paid when the order ships.

And that’s why sales isn’t for everyone.

Every sales professional has to ask ⤵

HOW BAD DO YOU WANT IT?

The Med Reps who win don’t let fear stop them.

▪️ They punch excuses in the mouth.

▪️ They make the extra sales call.

▪️ They jump on another plane.

▪️ They plan another meeting.

They show up—again and again—until the order is placed.

Then, the real work begins…helping 1 patient at a time.
